Annette Vinding is the Lead Teacher of the Visually Impaired at Equalize Sensory Services. She grew up outside of San Jose, California, when “Silicon Valley” was full of low tech and fruit orchards. She has been teaching students with visual impairments since 1979 when she graduated with a Masters in Education of Visually Impaired from San Francisco State University. Annette has been an itinerant TVI in Tacoma, Washington; Fairfield, Connecticut; and Navasota and Madison Counties in Texas. She participated in the Mentorship program through Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired during her years in Texas. In North Carolina, Annette has been an itinerant teacher for school-age students, as well as for infants and toddlers. She has worked as a research assistant for a grant about infants and toddlers with visual impairments. Throughout her years as a TVI she has presented on literacy issues at VI conferences. Annette enjoys her students and is also privileged to work with parents, and other VI and related service professionals and para-professionals who make her job do-able! Annette enjoys the outdoors, hiking with her dog and lives in Burlington, North Carolina.
